Trevor Wayne @ Village Antiques & Art
Born and raised in West Virginia, Trevor Wayne grew up with two lifelong teachers as parents. “I developed a healthy respect for their profession and decided, ‘I want to be anything but a teacher,’” he jokes. After graduating from Marshall University with a degree in advertising, Trevor found that the path didn’t quite unfold as planned. During the pandemic, he began searching for a creative outlet and discovered woodworking.
“My works are born from a love of woodworking and a complete inability to comprehend math,” he says with humor. “Do you want me to make you a bookshelf with complicated angles and mathematics involved? No can do. You want me to turn a big square of wood into a much smaller, less square/more round piece of wood? I can do that.”
Trevor specializes in hand-turned pieces created on a lathe, including pens, shaving razors, bowls, and other functional works of art. “I find so much joy and happiness in my creations, and I hope you will too.”
