Nancy Polan’s New Discoveries @ Hattie and Nan’s Antiques and Rare Books

Born in 1912 in Newfork, Ohio, Nancy Polan was a painter, watercolorist, and printmaker whose work gained national and international recognition. She earned her A.B. from Marshall University and studied under prominent artists including Hilton Leech and Fletcher Martin, both affiliated with the Huntington Museum of Art studio program.

Polan exhibited widely, including with Allied Artists of West Virginia, the Charleston Art Gallery, the Huntington Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and Allied Artists of America in New York. Her work is held in collections including the Huntington Museum of Art and the Admiral’s House at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. Among her honors are the Ralph & Elizabeth C. Norton Memorial Award (1960), the National Arts Club Watercolor Award (1969), and a bronze medal from Centro Studi e Scambi Internazionali in Rome (1971).

Now, rare and previously undiscovered works are being shared with the public.
