Aerial and Fire Performers Light Up Old Central City Days
As the 33rd Annual Old Central City Days approaches, the vibrant community of 14th Street West is gearing up for a weekend filled with thrilling family-friendly entertainment. Among the highlights this year are the awe-inspiring performances by aerial and fire artists: Nicole Dias, also known as KiKi Kreatrix, and Marisa Jagielo, who performs as Lady Jay.
In a recent interview, KiKi Kreatrix and Lady J shared their excitement and preparations for the event. Attendees can look forward to an array of mesmerizing acts including hula hooping (both flaming and non-flaming), fire dance, aerial hoops, and a striking fire staff performance.
Lady Jay is particularly thrilled to debut a new act featuring fire wicks on a 3D apparatus. Having taught herself Lyra during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was inspired by Zenith Rising, another performer at the festival, to delve into fire lyra. "There's something truly magical about what we do," she said. "I love showing kids the circus and inspiring them with its possibilities."
KiKi Kreatrix, originally from Morgantown, discovered her passion for fire spinning while searching for a new hobby. "Being from Morgantown, I was deeply involved in community activities and fire spinning. When I moved to Huntington, I wanted to continue that engagement. Old Central City Days is a chance for me to be a part of something amazing and also share the magic of seeing fire spinning in person with the community," she shared.
Lady Jay, now based in northern West Virginia, will be performing in the southern part of the state for the first time. "I'm excited to meet a new community and inspire them with what we do. It's amazing to show people that you can actually run away and join the circus," she added.
