Joe Cox @ Central City Museum (Printmaking Demo)

Joe Cox is a printmaking artist. His passion for art and graphic design inspired him to look for different ways to do printing press designs. Beyond working at Brand Yourself, a local graphic design and t-shirt making company, Cox has his own personal business, Joe Public Press. Tonight, Cox is displaying some of his work which showcases his skills such as Gyotaku; however, Cox is also exhibiting “Rain or Shine” with Austin Jones. This team of printmakers brought an historic advertisement back to life.This reproduction print of a Fesenmeier Brewery Ad was hand printed April 2023 using the original printing plate on a Potter Proof Press. The metal plate is made of zinc and had to be hand inked for each print. The Fesenmeier Brewery operated for more than 80 years under various brand names and was located on Madison Ave.Check it out in person at the Central City Museum and learn about the printing press process with Cox and Jones.
