Brief Bio

Timothy Blevins is a local Artist from Ceredo, West Virginia. Blevins specializes in nature drawings, such as birds and butterflies in their natural habitat like being surrounded by the flowers and trees they visit. Blevins says he didn’t particularly aspire to be an artist, he simply loves producing work from his soul. He does credit his high school art teacher and homeroom teacher for encouraging him. He says he always has enjoyed drawing different mediums throughout his life, and even made a great career of it as a Technician/Draftsman. He also is inspired by Chuck Ripper, another local artist who had a career as a draftsman at the Corp of Engineers in Huntington, WV. Blevins says he is unique because he has a long history of learning new skills and a desire to learn and experience even more. He said, “I don’t see limits because faith and love know there are no boundaries. No matter my current status in life, I know I can have a sustainable, positive attitude that keeps me moving forward.”

Work on Display

Blevins submitted a few colored pencil drawings using Prismacolor and Castle brand. He said his drawings reflect what occurs in nature, highlighting birds that live in and visit West Virginia every summer. Blevins often uses various papers such as Bristol, Watercolor, and UArt pastel 800 grit sandpaper and he also does graphite pencil work. Blevins also mentioned that he is interested in the Warblers that come to West Virginia from South America to breed. “Many people don’t realize that there are many that come here and not just the Hummingbird,” he said.
