She studied prominent artists during her life, such as Hilton Leech and Fletcher Martin, several of which taught in the studio program at the Huntington Museum of Art. In addition, her works were also exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and at the Allied Artists of America exhibitions in New York.

Work on Display

Shop owner of Hattie and Nan's, Joanna Sexton, has decided to feature Polan's work in an exhibit she's calling, "Lines." Beyond these paintings being Undiscovered, Sexton says Polan went through a period of including dramatic, detailed lines in each of her pieces. See the beauty in person and talk to Sexton during your visit to learn more about Polan and her previous work.

Remembering Great Artists

Polan has work held at the Huntington Museum of Art in Huntington and at the Admiral’s House at the Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. Among her many awards were the following: Ralph & Elizabeth C. Norton Memorial Award; Third National Jury Show of American Art, Chautauqua, NY, 1960; National Arts Club Watercolor Award, New York, NY, 1969; bronze medal, Centro Srudi e Scami Internazionali, Rome, Italy, 1971.
