Dan Testa
Daniel Testa, the creator of Dan's Spray Art, is a self-taught spray paint artist located out of Huntington W. Va. He is looking to expand the realm of artistry by continuously searching for new mediums and techniques that will capture the eye.
He began spray painting two years ago and what began as a hobby, meta-morphed into a vision to create works of art that are different, visually appealing and thought provoking. He specializes in spraying mystical and sci-fi pieces that each have their own distinct feel to the viewer.
When he is not in his studio painting, Testa is taking care of patients in the hospital as a third year medical student studying at the Marshall University School of Medicine. On weekends, you may see him out and about taking part in local craft fairs and festivals. In his free time, he enjoys painting (duh!), ice skating, escape rooms and getting together with his friends!
A Few Words From The Artist...
"I was always interested in art and working with my hands from a young age," Testa wrote in a email sent out on Wednesday. "As I child I liked to draw and mold clay sculptures but as I got older my left brain took over and I sort of lost that side of me – during my teenage and early adult years I focused on other things like sports (played ice hockey for a while in Hagerstown, MD where I was born), traveling and focusing on a career in medicine. However, a few years ago a friend of mine persuaded me to get back into art in my free time so I began drawing and doing acrylic painting again. A year later I honestly just got bored with using a paintbrush, so I pursued a different form of art – one without a paintbrush – spray painting and really started enjoying it. The rush of hearing the whizz of a spray can still gives me chills!"
