As Summer Saturdays continue here in Central City, we are excited to highlight some of our fantastic activities with a #MeetTheInstructor blog and video series! Today’s highlight is on our yoga instructor, Kyle Kemats.

Kyle Kemats hails from North East Ohio, near Youngstown. In 2020, he made the move to Huntington. By day, Kyle is a Chemistry Professor at Ohio University Southern Campus. However, his passion for yoga has led him to teach at Marshall University for the past year.

Kyle’s journey with yoga began in 2017, and his dedication to the practice culminated in earning his certification at the Kootenay Yoga School in Mexico during a two-week retreat. His love for yoga and community engagement came together when he met Rebecca at the Wild Ramp, leading to the collaboration that brings free yoga sessions to Summer Saturdays.

Summer Saturdays Yoga with Kyle

Kyle describes his Summer Saturdays yoga classes as very beginner-friendly. “We don’t do anything too crazy, we go in a slow flow and I talk everyone through each pose,” he explains. The classes are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their yoga experience. As an added bonus, participants receive free coffee vouchers from Cicada Books and the Wild Ramp.

Kyle emphasizes that yoga is not about perfection. “It’s about being there and trying to do your best and get in tune with your body,” he says. He understands that some people may feel nervous about joining a class, but he reassures newcomers that most participants are focused on their own practice, often with their eyes closed. “There’s no reason to feel self-conscious,” he adds.

Join Kyle for a refreshing and inclusive yoga session this Summer Saturday and experience the joy of connecting with your body and the community. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enjoy yoga, meet new friends, and get a free coffee voucher!
