Celebrating Pride with Cicada Books & Coffee on 14STW

June is PRIDE month, and for the last couple of years, Cicada Books & Coffee has been celebrating in style! This year, we hosted a free, outdoor event on 14STW that was a bit different from previous years—earlier in the day and more scaled back—but just as fun and vibrant. 

The community gathered for a delightful afternoon filled with games, activities, food, music, and local shopping for all ages. People of all ages enjoyed games like Giant Jenga, singing, dancing, blowing bubbles, and decorating the gazebo with beautiful chalk designs. The atmosphere was joyful and inclusive, embodying the true spirit of Pride.

Local vendors and resource groups added to the festivities by offering information, unique products, and delicious treats. Harmony House and the West Huntington Library provided valuable resources and sweet treats, while others, like El Botanas Mexican Food Truck, served up tasty local food.

The event was a tremendous success, showcasing the strength and unity of our community. The celebration didn't stop there—Cicada even hosted the Big Gay Prom the same night, capping off a day of love, acceptance, and pride.

We are incredibly thankful for our local business community, Huntington Pride, and everyone who contributes to making these Pride events possible. Here's to many more years of celebrating diversity and inclusion together!
