Last Updated 3/21/2024

Terra Fate is on a mission to provide the community with plants that are grown with care and love, from tropicals and exotics to native plants and vegetables for the garden. Besides carrying a wide range of plants, this business educates customers and community members on proper plant care, garden planning, and more! Terra Fate is owned by husband and wife, Nate and Frannie Adam. Frannie gave us some exclusive insight into her business this past week. Read on to learn about Terra Fate and the amazing owners!

Business History

Terra Fate was started in 2019, by Adam and Frannie, who are both passionate about plants, education, conservation, and the environment. “We started out of our home in 2019, carrying tropical plants and terrarium supplies, and sold pretty much exclusively at reptile expos,” she said. “As we grew, we started attending farmer’s markets and other local festivals, building a following in the community.” Despite the challenges of an out-of-home business, Terra Fate grew its following, causing its owners to want to look for a location that would fit perfectly for their inventory and their biggest fans and customers.

The Perfect Opportunity

Frannie shared that the available shop on Madison Ave (previously Perennial Favorites) was an opportunity they couldn’t pass up. “The greenhouses on Madison Ave are the perfect location,” Frannie said. “We already have a strong connection to West Huntington, as we started the local farmer’s market circuit there, and routinely attend festivals on the west end, as well as sell at The Wild Ramp. The community in West Huntington has always been extremely supportive.”

A Unique Business

Terra Fate is a unique greenhouse, according to Frannie, who says they carry plants you may not find anywhere else in this area such as unique varieties of herbs, native pollinator-friendly plants, and exotic plants like venus fly traps and rare cacti. “We have something for everyone, and we strive to keep prices accessible to a large audience,” Frannie explained. “Employees here are always happy to talk plants with you, so when you leave here with a plant, you’ll also leave a little wiser. As we continue to grow, we will start hosting workshops, classes, and speakers. Not only do we sell plants and plant accessories, we bring knowledge and self-care to community members,” she added.
