Sloane Square Gallery will host the book launch for local author Joanie Ward Smith on Saturday, April 6th, noon to 4 pm. Ward Smith's newest book, The Secrets We Keep: Bessa's True Love, is based on the true story of a 100-year-old secret that has been uncovered with the help of DNA tests.
According to Ward Smith, "This is a shocking story to all of us who knew Bessa. I remember her as a lovely, prim and proper middle-aged woman who was dedicated to her family. Evidently, her dedication extended to keeping this secret and maintaining appearances. Weeks and weeks of research and conversations helped me put this puzzle together. But now that we know the truth, do we keep Bessa's secret?"
A Huntington High School and Marshall University graduate, Ward Smith is the former owner of Bella Consignment. She started writing books at the age of 70. The Secrets We Keep is her eighth book. In addition to writing, Ward Smith is active with Advocates Saving Adoptable Pets (ASAP) and Cabwaylingo Appalachian Mission.
"We are honored to host the book launch for such an amazing writer from our area," said Jimmie Hobbs, co-owner of Sloane Square Gallery. "We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Joanie's newest book."
Sloane Square Gallery is located at 611 West 14th Street in Huntington and features Jamie Sloan's original artwork. The Gallery also offers an impressive selection of furniture, home decor and jewelry.
